What is Cuter?

Nothing is cuter then boys in baseball outfits. I have known this life truth for a long time. In college I was a Diamond Doll at AUBURN. Not to meet my sorority credits for campus activities but because I knew cute boys wore baseball uniforms! So imagine my joy to see my husband coaching my son in his first Tball game!! Son was a trooper. He has strep throat and we had out of town guest with us the night before. I don't remember a time when I have wanted to cry and laugh out loud at the same time.

Son seemed so big and so small in that moment. I know these times we have with our children are precious. When he got someone out, he held #1's to the sky. I thank God for those moments. Precious moments. Moments when he is still my little boy. I watched him sitting in the dug out laughing and talking with his friends and a memory of him flashed before me. It was of me rocking him in our den in Montgomery. It was just me and him. Husband worked very long hours and I had little to no friends. Son was my life. And just like that . . . it is gone. He is growing up and in a few short months I will drop him off at public school and drive away.

But for today . . . HE IS MY LITTLE TBALL PLAYER.

Motherhood and Aunt Life

Motherhood can bring a bag of emotions each day. Happiness and love are things you know your children will bring you. I think I knew there would be days that I would feel tired, worn out and DONE. I just did not know to what extent I would feel those emotions. This week motherhood is taking a toll on me. So to make me feel better here is my list:
Cute things the kids have done lately:
1. Son wrote in his journal at school, "I like praying to God."
2. Daughter calls Aunt Chell her best friend.
3. Son has strep throat and while he is burning with a fever he says, "I like being sick mommy because then I am so nice!"(It is true!)
4.Daughter matching her purple dress with purple panties and purple crocs.
5.Son trash talking during his practice baseball game and pointing number 1's up to the sky. (Says things like, "Who's your daddy?" "WHOA, Foul Ball" "I got your number mister!")
6.Daughter teaching another little girl to swing upside down with legs wrapped around the chains.

Aunt Chell is a very good aunt. She is daughter's best friend. She teaches daughter to do the beauty pageant wave and how to smile properly for pictures. I know she will also one day teach her about shopping with no budget, makeup, shoes and purses. When daughter was minutes old, sister was holding her saying, "Can you say Prada?" I know they have a bond I will never share with a niece because all I have is nephews. And really I am much better with boys.

That is why I, being the "good Boy Aunt" took my nephew to buy his first pair of crocs. I then bought my twin nephews crocs. 3 Pair of crocs for the Brake Boys. Sister hates crocs and has yet to allow this trend in her home. I then drove to her house where I cut the tags off the shoes and dressed all 3 boys in their new shoes. Then I told them to go inside and show mommy. Sister is really mad at me. Wynn's new favorite saying is, "I want Cocs." Sister is real happy about that word.

I don't really care that she is mad at me. I fell out of her car the other day on the concrete. Like fell completely out. Thought I had a broken ankle. Sister and her loving self watched me fall and said, "Shh. I am on the phone with the florist." I left her house only to get a call from Brother-in-law saying, "Why do the twins keep saying CAR-FALL-CRY?"

EGGCITING WEEKEND

We have a big weekend planned. Son is playing TBall for the first time and WOW at all the time it is requiring. Son plays his first game next weekend. Not only will he be playing his FIRST ever baseball game but he will also be playing his SECOND ever baseball game right after the first one. You think he will be tired? But this weekend among baseball practices we have a Easter Egg Hunt that our church is putting on with the city on Saturday. Then Sunday we will have church and sister's pottery barn Easter event at her house. On top of our Sunday activities, me, Miss Personality will be ushering and greeting for 2 services. This will leave husband to do the Bunny Honors along with take the kids to church-looking cute. I think he can handle it but he seems not really up for the event.

Then just when I least expected it, me, Miss Type A gets a phone call from husband. Seems husband's cousins will be here tonight through Sunday. WOW. They are straight from Knoxville and have come to see UT play basketball. So I had to go get more food and borrow a blow up bed for the event. I hope they keep their UT paraphernalia in their car. I don't want our new neighbors to think bad of us just yet!

Every Easter two things happen . . . 1. I get a haircut or a highlight 2.We make a Resurrection Cake. Well, this year I got the highlight. Lets just say I look more August then March. The resurrection cake is always a hit. We bake a cake. Make a Jesus with Popsicle sticks. Make a cross with Popsicle sticks. Put the cross on top. Wrap Jesus with toilet paper and put him in the cake after cutting a hole in the side. We SEAL the tomb(cake) with a stone(cookie). This marks Good Friday at our house. Then before they get up on Easter I throw Jesus away - take the toilet paper and drape it on the cross and roll away the stone. The kids get so excited to see that He is Risen.

So even though the plans have changed, more people will be here, and my hair is too much, at least the kids know what Easter means.

The New Look

After a little house cleaning I hope to be back in action soon. We are currently in the middle of yet another stomach virus. We are loving our new home. The kids are growing up so fast. I hope to rejoin the blogging world soon.
